Matua Rawiri’s Shout Out

Tena Koutou Parents and Caregivers

It has been wonderful following the progress of our 2 hockey teams this year. They have both had a positive season. Well done to the coaches, managers, supporters, parents and the students. Although late in the season we are awaiting new hockey goals to arrive.
Our students have been gaining experiences and learning languages in Mandarin throughout the year and Japanese during the past few weeks. Te Reo Maori is also taught, depending on the level of Te Reo by each teacher. All our learning centres have been practising the school waiata and haka, so we can stand tall and proud of our values within Mokoia Intermediate.
Thank you to those parents and caregivers who have shared positive messages with teachers at school about their child's progress. It makes teaching well worth it.

We are Limitless! We are Passionate! We are Mokoia No.1!

House Winners

Congratulations to Sara, Oscar, Isaac and Logan who were our house draw winners this week and won a $10 Pita Pit voucher each. These students consistently display the school’s values.

Alumni

We were treated to a fantastic musical show at Rotorua Boys High School -  'Footloose'. Many ex Mokoia students were in the show and they were amazing. Well done, we look forward to our own show production in 2019. Congratulations to our students, their behaviour and attitude was awesome. What a fantastic morning out.

Classroom Roundup

W4 students were exploring what happens when the ingredients oil, water and food colouring were combined. This experiment was all about density. Density is a measure of how much something weighs (Mass) by how much space it takes up (Volume).

W4 also had a Calligraphy and Origami lesson with Ms Izawa.

The students created their own contemporary art pieces after the exploration of traditional and contemporary hei tiki designs in art.

Teacher Zara Matthews worked with the students to create tie dye/silhouette tee shirt designs.
