Tena Koutou Parents and Caregivers
Congratulations to all our limitless students who have participated in the AIMS GAMES this week in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa. We have had representation in 11 codes this year, the most ever. We are challenging the best athletes at Intermediate level across New Zealand and overseas. The weather has been wonderful all week. I am extremely proud of our school and all our individuals and teams who have given their best all week. Thanks to the teachers, coaches, managers and supporters for taking the time to prepare for this week. Now that we have experienced AIMS we are going to ensure we are involved every year and target getting to the top in our country. Results and photos can be found on our school Facebook page. Mokoia is definitely in need of new sports uniforms for different codes, we will be looking into this in 2019. I am really proud, thank you again everyone. Finals day today then back to normal school routine for 2 weeks before the Term 3 school holidays.

A fantastic start for our 6 a side team on day 1.
The first game was an impressive 10-0 win against Bethlehem.
The second game against Bucklands Beach was set to be a challenge and after a motivating team talk from coach Gareth Upston the players lifted their game to come away with a 4-0 win.
All players have worked hard on their skills and fitness and it is certainly paying off.
They enjoyed a fun game of mini golf between games.
The Mokoia Red hockey team had a fun wrap up event on Friday night. They used the voucher the team was given to Mini Golf Rotorua and the kids, coaches and some parents had a great time. Played a round of mini golf, played with the rabbits, gave out certificates, and ate pizza. Great way to finish the season!
Huge thanks to Mini Golf Rotorua for the voucher.
Swimming
Mokoia AIMs swimming team had a good night at the prelims session. Both Samuel and Stella raced personal best times against stiff competition. Samuel’s best place was 11th in the gruelling 100 fly, missing a finals place by 0.3 of a second, but is reserve. Stella best place 8th, so has 100 Breaststroke final.
Thanks to Jo Chemis for Team Managing. Claire Baylis- coach.
Stella raced in the Finals for 100 Breaststroke in 13 yrs girls and placed 6th dropping her personal best time by a further 2 seconds. Samuel warmed up as reserve for 100 fly. Great work, with 385 competitors and heats and finals over two evenings it was an intense competition. Well done to you both.
