Mokoia Intermediate School is a small friendly school in Rotorua.
We offer small classes, caring staff and many academic and sporting opportunities.
The needs of ākonga are at the heart of all that we do.
All Year 6 students are welcome to come and experience life at Mokoia by joining our classes, student leaders and our Technology team for the morning.

All students from other Rotorua schools are welcome on Thursday 19th September 9.30am-12.30pm

Families are also welcome to visit at any time.

We warmly welcome all new students to our small friendly school.

Our school provides a high standard of care for each student so that they are happy and settled as they are transitioned into a new school setting.

International Students

Mokoia provides a high standard of care for each international student so that they are happy and settled as they are integrated into a new country and school setting.

​Code of Practice
Hosting your child is a responsibility we take seriously. The school is signatory to the New Zealand Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of international students and is fully compliant with all sections of the code.

​English Learning Programme
English Learning Programmes are taught at the appropriate level, up to 3 hours a week in small groups. The balance of the time International Students are integrated into classrooms with New Zealand students. Teachers are highly qualified, experienced and caring.

Student Support and Pastoral Care
Pastoral care staff will meet with your child regularly and also visit their New Zealand homes.

Orientation
All new International Students are welcomed to the school with an orientation programme which includes a tour of the school and a meet and greet with members of the school community.

Specialist Subjects
International students are integrated into all classroom programmes and attend Specialist Subjects: Food Technology, Soft Materials, Hard Materials, Digital Technology, Bio Technology/Science and Music.
Students participate in Education Outside the Classroom such as water safety courses and school camps. Students can participate in a wide range of sporting opportunities.

Accommodation
Students may live with their parents, their friends or the school can arrange a homestay.

Communication
The School welcomes direct communication from parents via phone, email, letter or visits. If you are wishing to speak to someone at the school please email the school office and they will arrange a school representative to return your call.

International Students receive a Leaving Certificate and School Report when they leave the school.

We look forward to meeting your child and assisting them with settling into our school.
