Kia ora e te whānau,
We have come to the end of another busy and highly productive term at Mokoia Intermediate.
This week was particularly busy with a number of events on. I’d like to give a huge shout out to all of you who took time out of your busy lives to attend the Whānau conferences on Tuesday, it was an amazing turn out. I had the privilege to sit in on a few conferences and it was great to hear the robust conversations about students’ learning and achievement. A special shout out goes to carpenter extraordinaire Hayden Mitchell, who assited me with my flat tyre, cheers Hayden. I’d also like to thank all of our hard working staff who have put in some very long hours lately. Their hard work and dedication to their students provides the foundation for our school’s success.
Last night I was part of a group of staff that attended the Epic Night Out at the Sir Howard Morrison Centre. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate the talents of our current and past students in the field of performing arts. A massive thanks to Mr Law and Whaea Cheyla for the work they put in to help our performers shine. As a teacher, I couldn’t have been prouder of all our students who took to the stage. I must also acknowledge Mr Tim Smith from Rotorua Lakes High School, Tim organised the night and provided our school with a chance to share the stage.
As it is the last newsletter of the term I’d like to remind all of our students to stay productive over the break (maybe help out with a chore or two) and to make the most of the holidays. To our Mokoia staff, take time to relax and have a well deserved break. To our caregivers, parents and whanau, thank you for the support this term. Stay safe, have fun and we will see you all back in Term 3.
Ngā mihi nui,
Matua Dean & the Mokoia ‘A’ Team
